Former House member Ann Marie Buerkle says she has decided to not run for the seat she lost to Dan Maffei in 2012.
Buerkle says in a press release that serving the people of Upstate New York in Congress "has been one of the highest honors of my life." She says the outpouring of support to run again was humbling, and the decision to not run was a difficult but right one for her. Buerkle says she knows she can be an effective advocate on issues outside Congress, and will continue to do so. Buerkle is currently a commissioner with the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
