Syracuse firefighters battled a blaze at Grace Episcopal Church into the early hours of this morning, with no idea as yet to how much damage has been done.
The fire, which officials say started in the kitchen area on the first floor of the church on University Avenue, was quickly extinguished when firefighters got on the scene late last night. Despite controlling the fire, smoke spread throughout the church. Church officials say no one was inside when the fire started. They also say that worship services will go on as planned on Sunday - either in the church's garden or in the church itself, if possible. The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
