Cicero police say they have arrested a Syracuse man on drug and weapons charges who was convicted of bank robbery and assault in 2002.
Police say Robert Ferens was waving a shotgun in a wooded area near Brewerton Road and Mud Mill Road, and had a large quantity of pills in his vehicle. A witness spotted Ferens with the weapon earlier and notified police. Ferens was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting a witness during a Brewerton bank robbery. As a convicted felon, he is not permitted to possess a firearm. Ferens was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of a weapon. He is in the Justice Center being held without bail.
