Syracuse police say they made a quick arrest following a bank robbery at a Chase Bank branch at Adams Street and South Crouse Avenue.
Officers say the male suspect took a taxi to the bank. Once inside, he gave a teller a threatening note. The suspect got cash, fled the bank and returned to the taxi to leave the scene. No one was hurt, and officers say witnesses provided an excellent description of the suspect. Officers say just moments later, the suspect's taxi was spotted at South Warren and East Onondaga Street. The suspect fled the taxi on foot, but the officer in pursuit used a Taser on the suspect and took him into custody. He was charged with robbery and grand larceny.
Police say 54-year-old Mark Evans of Syracuse had an extensive criminal history including two prior bank robbery arrests. Evans was just paroled earlier this month for a prior robbery.
