Syracuse's Christmas Tree Lighting Is Just Two Weeks Away!

Believe it or not, but the City of Syracuse’s annual tree lighting is just a few weeks away! This year the tree will be an artificial one which will allow city officials to decorate it with ornaments - 1,200 to be exact! The tree will be lit upon the placement of the final ornament on the day after Thanksgiving which will be November 29th. The ceremony starts at 6:00 pm.

This year the co-host for the ceremony will be none other than Syracuse native Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants! Kenny, who has won a Daytime Emmy Award for his voice work on the show, will share duties with Maria Maldonado-Lewis, constituent advocate for the City of Syracuse.

The city is also having an art contest handled by the Department of Parks for kids. The winners will help hang the last ornament on the 42-foot tree. The ceremony is always a fun event! Plan to attend, and let’s hope the weather cooperates!
