Ken Baker called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” from the Sundance Festival in Park City, Utah to clarify the how the friendship between Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaughey had changed since the cyclists confessed to using performance enhancing drugs throughout his career.
How Did Matthew React?
Ken reports that during a Sundance promotional event for Matthew’s next film ‘Mud’ he confessed his first reaction toward Lance was anger! Then he became kind of sad for him. “It was the first time McConaughey or anyone really close as a celebrity to Lance Armstrong spoke out. I think Matthew saying that spoke for alot of people.”
On Lance’s Interview with Oprah:
“Most people said it hurt him. They felt he didn’t come across as sympathetic. It was too little, too late. I feel like it was a necessary step he had to take, but it’s going to be a long road before the public is even close to forgiving him.”
On Ken’s Recent Book ‘Fangirl’
“It’s a pop star that falls in love with a fan. Yes, it’s inspired by true events, but it’s not a true story.” Purchase Fangirl.
