Dr. Travis Stork, who appears on talk show The Doctors, called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” to help us answer Ryan’s question—how do they make caffeinated coffee decaf?!
As Ryan’s gone from caffeinated to decaf, we couldn’t help but wonder what the magic process is. Dr. Stork came to the rescue, telling us not only the process is “safe,” but explained just exactly how it goes down.
Stork explained: “What they do is…essentially think of it as they soak the beans in water…and then they use a solvent to pull the caffeine out of the coffee beans.” Adding, because “the biggest complaint people have…is the taste…one concern is people don’t want to loose the taste so they’re now actually looking at using ‘genetically modified beans.’”
An idea we’re not too sure we’re down with!
