Country singer Tim McGraw phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest and dished on what relationship advice he’d give Taylor Swift, as well as his bond with rappers, like Nelly.
The 46-year-old, who’s joined forces with artists including Pitbull for his upcoming TV concert, ACM Presents: Tim McGraw’s Superstar Summer Night, revealed the rapper and he connected right off the bat.
“He’s such a great guy,” Tim says about Mr. Worldwide. “He has a great energy about him. Very respectful guy. I met him at the Grammys this year. It was the first time I’d ever met him and of course I’ve been a fan of his for awhile, and my daughters are fans of his and my wife, and we talked for awhile and right away he’s one of those guys you just like instantly and really connect with.”
So how did Tim get the rapper on board for Superstar Sumer Night? “We were putting together the special and we asked if he’d be interested in doing it and he jumped right on board, so then we had to figure out something to do together and we figured out this medley thing to do that worked really well.”
Along with Pitbull, Tim also joined forces with singer Ne-Yo and Nelly again.
“Nelly, who I’ve worked with before, has this thing with “Florida Georgia Line“ and then Ne-Yo and I are doing our song together and my wife is on there, so it’s pretty cool.”
Speaking of meshing well with rappers, the country crooner also touched upon routinely working with Nelly. In fact, Tim’s wife Faith Hill even made him fried chicken during a song writing session at their home.
“He came over and had dinner and we wrote three or four songs that night and not too long after that I found a song I was doing on my album, sent it over to him, and he did vocal on it so it was on my Emotional Traffic track,” explains Tim. “And then his last album, he sent over a song to me, and I put my vocal on it. So we’ve sort of been trading songs back and forth. Then we hooked up over in London over the winter … and I went to his show and we sang together.”
Tim continues about Nelly: “He’s like one of those guys, it’s like playing tennis with someone really good, you up your game. He’s such a good singer, when you sing with him, he can’t help but make you better.”
However an artist closer to home for Tim is Taylor Swift. The “22” singer, who titled her first single simply “Tim McGraw,” has come full circle lending her vocals to his latest single, “Highway Don’t Care.”
So how did this collaboration come about?
“We had talked about it several times when we’d run into each other at award shows and she opened for Faith and I’s at our Soul2Soul tour … awhile back and we’re all a big fan of her and I think she’s one of the coolest artists to come out in awhile and I think her song writing is spectacular,” gushes Tim of Taylor. “She’s a great artist and singer. Her style is superb. We had talked about doing something together and when this song came along I sent it over to her and asked if she’d be interested in doing it and there was no hesitation, right away she wanted to do it. And I knew I wanted Keith [Urban] to play guitar so it was one of those things that just really fell together organically, which is unusual in the music business.”
As for working alongside one another, the threesome had technology to thank due to their nonstop schedules.
“It was good because everyone is so busy, but the great thing about modern technology is I did my record and sent it over to Taylor, she does her vocals, sends it back to me. [Then] I send it over to Keith, he lays his guitar part down, sends it back to me, we mix it, and voilá! We have a great song. It was good working with those guys. It wouldn’t have been the same record certainly without those guys.”
Aside from advice on music, we had to ask, does Taylor seek out relationship advice from the husband and father of three daughters?
“No, she doesn’t ask me for [relationship] advice,” says Tim. “I don’t know what kind of advice I would give her cause I’m the guy. So the only advice I would give, it wouldn’t work for Taylor. The only advice I would give is to shut and say, ‘yes ma’am,’ all the time which would’t help her! I’m way out-numbered at my house!”
Tune in to ACM Presents: Tim McGraw’s Superstar Summer Night special on CBS on May 19 at 9/8c.

Angie Miller may have lost the race to the finish on American Idol but her elimination doesn’t mean the end of her career!
And after being compared to Miley Cyrus throughout the season, we had to ask, would she ever consider working with her doppleganger?!
The 3rd place finisher revealed to On Air with Ryan Seacrest: “I would definitely do a duet with Miley Cyrus. It would be cool to meet her cause it’d be cool and we’d have to take a picture together because supposedly we look alike.”
To see the fate of Kree Harrison and Candice Glover, tune in to the finale of American Idol tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

Martha Stewart is a woman of many skills … and now, she’s added dating to the list!
Martha, who revealed she signed up for Match.com on the Today Show, admitted to On Air with Ryan Seacrest she’s already made a major mistake when it comes to dating two men at the same time.
“Today, I made a great faux pas,” she explains. “I called Stan, but I called him Larry … somebody had programmed the numbers into my phone the opposite. They said Larry’s phone number is Stan and Stan’s is Larry! I knew something was wrong. I said, ‘Larry?’ And he said, ‘Do you mean Stan?’ … It’s very bad. This is so embarrassing. I’m very upset with myself.”
So where does this leave Martha with the two men she’s been set up with?
“The first date is on Friday,” she says … but it’s not going to be a typical first date . “We are [planning] it together because unfortunately, and something else I didn’t quite understand, the Today Show wants to bring a camera on the first date which is a little weird.”
With two men on the date, who will pay the bill?
“The Today Show better pay for it,” she joked. “I want to go to a really expensive restaurant.”
Aside from looking for love, Martha’s also been busy sharing her tips in her latest book, Living the Good Long Life, on everything from how to wash your face to how you should start your day (with a green juice).
Another tip of Martha’s? Never go to sleep with a dirty face.
“To go to bed with your face other than clean, really clean, I think is really bad,” she said. “Your skin has to breathe and your face is your face and that’s your ticket to conversation with people, so you should really go to sleep with your face clean.”
So what’s the Martha-approved face wash routine? “Remove all your makeup well, and if you have eye makeup on, I use plain old baby oil with a piece of cotton, and then [I use] a warm, almost hot wet face cloth and steam my face a little bit. Then use a cleansing soap, and then slather on all the good stuff: vitamin B, vitamin D and E, serums, and some good night cream, and then go to bed!”
As for how Stan and Larry will feel when they see this concoction on her face?! ”They won’t mind because my face looks nice,” Martha said confidently.

Zoe Saldana is standing by her Allure magazine comment where she proposed she may raise her children with a woman one day.
The 34-year-old Star Trek: Into the Darkness actress and former girlfriend of Bradley Cooper admitted when she phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest: “I’m a little blunt. I’m from New York, so I say it like it is, sometimes a little too much. That statement is very real to me. I kind of just wanted people to understand that my life and my decisions are my own and I’m not living on this Earth to get anybody’s acceptance or approval because I am this way because I’ve been inspired by people that conduct themselves in that way as well.”
Zoe continued: “Up until now I’ve been known to be attracted to the male species, but if one day I wake up and want to go in a different direction, I will do that.”
And is a younger man a direction she might go in, as well? “Absolutely … you know you’ve been there with your female friends and a beautiful young man passes by and you almost crash your car,” says Zoe. “You know, just as much as men do it, I love youth. I love men who are absolutely Adonis.”
As for her latest flick, Star Trek: Into the Darkness, Saldana hinted Uhura (her character) and Spock’s relationship is taken to a new level in the sequel.
“We establish sort of a romantic link between them in the first installment and, at first, it was a student-teacher kind of crush and now it’s developed into something more profound in the second installment and the fans — there were some that were against it — but overall the response is very positive.”
Zoe is also known for roles like the action flick Colombiana, making her an actress known for being able to get physical.
She thanks her past as a dancer for being able to take on those demanding roles. “I’ve done those movies where I play roles of kind of active female characters. I was a dancer and the fact I’m able to apply my body into characters and into stories, I feel really blessed, and I want to keep doing it until I get old and can’t do it anymore.”
Star Trek: Into the Darkness opens in select theaters May 15 and elsewhere May 16.
